Food and Health Workshops

What Should I Eat?

With all the misleading and contradictory health and nutrition information that is provided through mainstream media sources, this could be a very daunting question to those who are truly concerned about their health. Much of the information that is provided on packaging, magazines newspapers and television cause more confusion than understanding.

In order to make the most informed decisions concerning our health, we need to be educated. Nani Ola Productions offers community workshops on food, nutrition and health with information that is clear and relevant. The workshops are interactive and invite the audience to ask questions and share perspectives. We hope to stimulate discussion and shift perception to empower individuals to make the decisions that are most beneficial to their health concerns.

Workshops are available on a variety of topics. You may also make special requests to address specific topics that you do not see offered. We offer workshops to community groups, schools, families and organizations.

Today's greatest threat to human health, human rights, the environment, biodiversity and the warming Earth, is seeped in the way we produce and consume food on a daily basis. So what and how you eat has tremendous consequences on every living thing on this planet, and that's no exaggeration.

This workshop examines the links between our food choices and the effects our eating habits have on our body, mind, spirit, and the world around us. We will also look at easy ways of making small changes that can make a big difference for future generations of all living things.

Topics of discussion will include: agribusiness, biotechnology, global trade policies, physical and emotional health, socioeconomic disparities, global warming and environmental degradation. But it doesn't end there. The bulk of the workshop is to understand the problems so we can then work on finding the solutions.

This is an interactive workshop that provides an arena for critical discussion of what is happening with our food system and what we, as ordinary citizens can do to change it. How to Eat to Save the World strives to empower with knowledge and inspire citizens to take action, because we can!

Healthy For The Holidays

The Holiday season is here! It is a time for celebrations, gatherings with friends and family, parties and socializing. A large part of holiday festivities include food, drink and stress. This workshop is to help people stay healthy throughout the 3 months of the holiday season: November, December and January.

On the average, Americans tend to gain about 3-5 extra pounds during this time of year. Typically, the food consumed around holiday time is full of fat, sugar and calories, but deficient in nutrition. In addition, the planning, shopping, preparations and hectic schedules often result in stress and unhealthy habits that tax our bodies and emotions.

This workshop will give you practical and simple tips on how to enjoy the holidays without burning out, gaining weight or getting depressed. You can have a stress-free, healthy and joyous holiday season!
